Signal Today

Although Signal Radio started in 1983, it wasn't until 1992 that it separated into AM & FM stations. Signal 1, Signal Stafford & Cheshire occupied the FM frequencies, whilst Signal 2 took the AM service. In its time Signal 2 has also been known as Big AM and Signal Gold.

Although the services have evolved over the years, Signal has always been at the forefront of events across Staffordshire and Cheshire. Even in 2008 the tweny fifth birthday year, there have been the Style Awards, Walkathon and Tribute nights at Trentham. For the Birthday itself, Go West, The Human League and UB40 frontman Ali Campbell are all performing in a massive outdoor event taking you back o the decade it all began.

Signal 1 & 2 are no less busy in the noughties as they were in the 80's and 90's. The gallery below features some of the events from the noughties. These include 'Live In The City' which has been held for a number of years at Stoke City's gound, Walthathon, Trentham Tribute nights, Living In A Box and the Signal Show at Uttoxeter.

Like most radio stations in the UK, Signal has been through many changes in both staff and management. Commercial radio in the UK since its inception in 1973 has evolved, become more foccused and provides the listener with output 24 hours a day. Information, music, news and travel that affects their daily lives.

Signal Radio has been at the centre of Staffordshire and Cheshire for the last twenty five years and looks forward to serving the area for many more years to come.
